Updated: 3 days ago
To keep your house or work space virus-free effectively, we have gathered some very useful information and tips.
Note that cleaning only removes the germs from surfaces whilst disinfecting kills them. The best practise is to do both on a regular basis on surfaces such as:
Door knobs, levers or buttons
Table and chairs
Baths and sinks
Tiles and shower curtains
TV remote controls
Phones, Computers, Tablets
Wearing reusable or disposable gloves, clean the surfaces with a soapy water or cleaning agent and cloth to remove dirt and dust according to the manufacturer's instructions. Regularly wash your hands for 20 seconds to protect yourself from germs or use hand sanitizer during and after cleaning.
Use disinfectants only if appropriate for the surface. If you cannot use disinfectant thoroughly use soapy water or a cleaning agent.
Disinfectant products may be disinfecting wipes or sprays or you can make your own at home. For a homemade disinfectant spray, pour 1 part bleach and 10 parts water into as spray bottle and shake vigorously. Spray surfaces and leave it to work for 10 minutes. After that, wipe away with a damp cloth.
Another very effecting method is using a UV-C gadget for disinfecting. There are many household devices in the market today that use ultraviolet C (UVC) to kill harmful viruses and bacteria. They are extremely beneficial as they have a 99.9% success rate at killing microbes and disinfect much quicker and efficient that other methods. Perhaps the most popular gadget is a UV disinfecting lamp available to purchase online or in hardware stores.
Protect yourself and others
Remember to protect your skin and eyes for potential splash hazards prior to start cleaning and disinfecting, open the windows for ventilation, store disinfectant products in safe areas away from reach of children and pets.
Wash cleaning products
If possible, use disposable cloths, papers and hand gloves or wash cloths at 60C (140F) or 40C (104F) with a laundry bleach after every use. Wash and dry cleaning equipment such as cleaning containers, brushes, mops and buckets thoroughly.
